Leaders of Womble Bond Dickinson (US) and Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie announced on Tuesday that the firms will combine into a single entity with over 1,300 lawyers, effective January 1, 2025. This decision follows five months of discussions aimed at expanding markets and strengthening practice areas for both firms. The merger will result in a trans-Atlantic firm with a total revenue of $742 million and 29 offices in the U.S., in addition to access to eight more offices in the U.K.
“We thought that this would be a firm that would be worth having discussions with. Since a lot of others were reaching out to us, why not talk to one where we know some people?” said Lewis Roca managing partner Ken Van Winkle.
