California’s Central District Emerges as Nation’s Leading Venue for Trade Secret Cases, Report Finds



A California federal court has led the nation in handling trade secrets cases for the past three years, according to a report released Friday. The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California topped the list of most active districts for trade secret litigation.

The 2024 Trade Secret Litigation Report by Lex Machina, which covers the 2021-2023 period, reveals that the Central District of California has emerged as the most frequented venue for trade secret cases. Following closely is the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, which recorded 173 trade secret cases filed during the same time frame.
