Ropes & Gray has re-elected Julie Jones to serve a second five-year term as chair of the 1,300-lawyer firm. Neill Jakobe will assume the role of vice chair starting January 2025, while current managing partner David Djaha will retire at the end of this year.
Julie Jones, a partner specializing in mergers and acquisitions, initially took the helm in 2020. Notably, she has represented private equity firm TPG Inc. in several deals. Under her leadership, the Boston-founded firm generated nearly $3 billion in revenue and reported $4.5 million in profits per equity partner in the previous year, according to The American Lawyer.
Neill Jakobe, who previously led the firm’s Chicago office and co-headed its global private equity practice, will mainly focus on client growth initiatives in his new role as vice chair while maintaining his practice. Jakobe is also a member of the firm’s management committee. Jones commented on the reappointments, emphasizing the firm’s commitment to being a “relationship first” firm for clients and colleagues. “We are excited to build on our momentum by serving clients in ways that are notably different from our competitors,” she noted in a statement.
