Gordon Moodie to Strengthen Debevoise & Plimpton’s M&A and Corporate Governance Practice

Gordon Moodie, currently the chief product officer at Harvey AI and formerly a partner at Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz, is set to join Debevoise & Plimpton. The firm announced on Monday that Moodie will assume the role of partner in its mergers and acquisitions and public company advisory group.

Moodie’s transition marks a significant move back to traditional legal practice after his stint at the generative artificial intelligence startup, Harvey AI, which is backed by OpenAI. He had departed from Wachtell in June 2023 to join Harvey AI, bringing with him over 18 years of experience in corporate law.

Moodie’s extensive background in deals and corporate governance is anticipated to bolster Debevoise’s capabilities, especially as the firm navigates an increasingly dynamic deal market and heightened client demand for complex corporate governance counsel. Debevoise emphasized that public companies, in particular, have frequently sought the firm’s expertise for these intricate matters.
