MyCase Introduces AI-Powered MyCaseIQ, Enhanced Accounting Features, and Immigration Add-On to Elevate Legal Practice Management

The law practice management platform MyCase rolled out three significant updates today aimed at enhancing its service offerings. These updates include MyCaseIQ, an AI conversational interface; enhancements to its accounting module; and a new immigration add-on. Additionally, MyCase has announced the beta release of Smart Spend, a feature integrating a business credit card with expense tracking directly within the platform.

According to a recent briefing, the newly branded MyCaseIQ will integrate document summarization and text editing capabilities, moving these tools out of their beta phases. In early 2024, MyCase will introduce an AI-driven conversational interface designed to help users access case information, timelines, and data seamlessly through natural language queries.

In an interview, Dru Armstrong, CEO of AffiniPay, MyCase’s parent company, emphasized the importance of the accuracy of AI in legal workflows, stating, “We’ve done a lot of work to ensure that everything going into general availability meets the very high standards our attorneys have.”

The company has also introduced enhancements to its accounting features. These updates include 1099 vendor reporting, automatic deposit slip creation, and automatic bank reconciliation through LawPay, aids in simplifying financial management for law firms by automating processes linked to invoicing and bank transactions.

Moreover, MyCase unveiled an immigration add-on, which integrates seamlessly with Docketwise, another AffiniPay-owned platform. This integration will allow immigration attorneys to manage both case and practice management without having to switch between different platforms. Features include auto-populating Smart Forms, USCIS case tracking, e-filing capabilities, and priority date tracking. The add-on is currently being soft-launched and will become generally available next year.

In terms of expense management, MyCase announced that the Smart Spend feature, which had been postponed, will start beta testing on Oct. 21 and aims for general availability in early 2024. This feature promises to offer a Visa credit card branded by LawPay that integrates all spending with the MyCase platform, directly channeling expenses into associated matters and invoices.

Armstrong also cited the recent investment by Genstar Capital as a driving force behind these innovations. This strategic investment, coupled with the continued stake held by former largest investor TA Associates, is expected to fuel more product research and development, allowing MyCase to cater more effectively to its customer base.
