Christopher Lacy has been appointed the new general counsel for Expand Energy Corp., a company formed through the acquisition of Southwestern Energy Co. by Chesapeake Energy Corp. Lacy, who previously served as general counsel for Southwestern, steps into his role following a $7.4 billion sale that concluded earlier this week.
The merger, which sees Chesapeake Energy Corp. rebranded as Expand Energy Corp., led to the departure of Benjamin Russ, the former general counsel of Chesapeake. Previously, Christopher Lacy had been a partner at Dewey & LeBoeuf until its collapse in 2012. Thereafter, he joined Houston-based Ahmad, Zavitsanos & Anaipakos before moving in-house at Southwestern in 2014.
This organizational reshuffle and the creation of Expand Energy Corp. position the company as the largest natural gas producer in the United States, marking a significant step in the industry’s consolidation landscape. More details on the developments and Lacy’s background can be found in the full article.
