Legal Community Gears Up for 15th Annual Above the Law Halloween Costume Contest

As legal professionals and students prepare to celebrate Halloween, the longstanding tradition of Above the Law’s annual legally themed costume contest returns for its fifteenth year. The contest, an anticipated fixture in the legal community, invites participants to showcase their creativity and wit through costumes that cleverly intersect the realms of law and popular culture.

Previous years have seen a wide range of inventive entries. Notable past winners include the humorous Donald J. Trump College of Law in 2016, a costume that played on political themes, and the clever depiction of Brett Kavanaugh’s calendar from 2018, highlighting moments from public discourse. The Ruth Baby Ginsburg costume in 2020 offered a light-hearted tribute to the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, while the winning entry of 2023, Warhol’s Soup Law, fused legal satire with a nod to pop art.

Submissions are eagerly awaited, as competitors vie for recognition among peers with their insightful and humorous interpretations of legal themes. Entrants are encouraged to submit their photos either via email or text, where they will be judged for ingenuity and execution. The level of participation and creativity seen thus far in the contest’s history speaks volumes about the dynamic and playful side of the legal community.
