Three students from Stanford Law School’s International Human Rights and Conflict Resolution Clinic had the unique opportunity to serve as official observers at the COP16 summit held in Cali, Colombia. The experience offered these students invaluable exposure to international environmental negotiations and policy-making processes, further supporting their legal education and development.
While detailed content from their observations remains reserved for academic analysis and discussion within the clinic, the fundamental aim of their participation was to gain firsthand understanding of how international environmental frameworks and agreements are discussed and formulated. Such experiences are expected to enhance not only their academic insights but also their future professional engagements in international law.
