Bloomberg Law has opened submissions for its fifth annual “They’ve Got Next: The 40 Under 40” report, sparking interest from the legal community. The report profiles emerging legal talents under the age of 40, celebrating individuals who have made significant strides in their fields. As interest grows, potential nominators often have questions about the submission process, evaluation criteria, and more. Bloomberg Law has provided a comprehensive FAQ section to clarify key aspects and ensure a smooth nomination experience.
The submission review process entails a team of editors meticulously evaluating each nomination based on criteria such as success records, leadership, and involvement in pro bono work. Evaluations are conducted individually, ensuring that each submission receives careful consideration.
Nominators from law firms, companies, or non-profits may officially put forth one attorney, while a second nomination may be made by a peer, a client, or through self-nomination, provided all application components are met. Each nominee’s success is evaluated independently, and no more than two honorees may be selected from the same organization.
The FAQ section also addresses submission components, emphasizing the importance of including recommendation letters with the nomination package. The evaluative approach to recommendation letters is uniform, regardless of their source, and confidentiality is paramount, with nominators advised to avoid sensitive information and to ensure all submissions are “on the record” for potential publication.
Previous nominees can reapply if they meet eligibility criteria, but Bloomberg Law encourages updated applications highlighting new achievements or expanded impact areas. Importantly, all applications must be complete upon submission, as the organization cannot notify applicants of incomplete packages due to volume.
Eligibility extends beyond specific titles, requiring only that nominees are fully engaged in legal practice. Moreover, prior inclusion in related editorial features does not influence consideration for the current report, as these accolades operate independently.
Submissions must utilize the new Qualtrics platform, reflecting a change from previous years. For additional inquiries, Bloomberg Law invites communication via their designated email, advising up to 48 hours for a response.
