A former Army officer, Manfredo Martin-Michael Madrigal, has been sentenced to 54 months in federal prison for destroying U.S. Army property and making false statements to federal investigators, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Madrigal was serving as an attorney assigned to the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School when the offenses took place. The Justice Department’s announcement, made public on Thursday, highlighted the actions that led to the charges. Madrigal was under investigation for not reporting a previous DUI arrest. While being investigated by both the Army and the JAG School, he deleted online JAG training materials and recorded himself during the act, expressing hostility towards the Army. Additionally, Madrigal contacted the Russian embassy on the same night as the destruction of property.
