The L Suite Expands Legal Education Offerings with Luminate+ Acquisition

The legal community is witnessing an intriguing development as The L Suite, a network designed for general counsels and chief legal officers, has acquired Luminate+. This platform, known for offering a range of continuing legal education (CLE) content from renowned law firms in a streaming service format, is set to expand The L Suite’s educational resources.

The acquisition aims to serve the 4,000-strong membership of The L Suite by providing access to Luminate+’s expansive library, which boasts partnerships with leading law firms such as Davis Polk, Orrick, and Baker McKenzie. The terms of the deal, however, remain undisclosed.

Andrew Dick, the founder of Luminate+, observed inefficiencies in how CLE content was traditionally distributed by law firms. With many firms organizing hundreds of webinars annually, the lack of an on-demand option limited audience reach. The Luminate+ platform counteracts this by hosting these webinars on-demand and handling the technicalities associated with accrediting CLE courses.

Under the merger, members of The L Suite will gain complimentary access to Luminate+, while non-members can opt for one of its subscription plans. The base subscription is set at $250 annually, offering access to law firm CLE content, whereas a premium plan at $750 includes exclusive insight from general counsels.

Greg Raiten, a co-founder of The L Suite, emphasized that the integration enhances the platform’s service to legal executives, facilitating quick access to learning resources on varied legal and regulatory topics. By merging with Luminate+, The L Suite hopes to create an enriched learning environment for in-house legal departments and law firms.

For Luminate+, joining The L Suite resolves past challenges in securing both content partnerships and user engagement. The integration also sets the stage for new content designed specifically for law firms, potentially featuring valuable insights from general counsels on improving client services.

Additionally, the acquisition includes LINK, a community centered on legal operations, co-founded by Dick. This will now form part of The L Suite’s array of executive communities.

The acquisition signals a strategic expansion for The L Suite, enhancing its offerings and connecting its community with top-tier legal education resources. As Dick takes on a new role within The L Suite, the synergy between the two platforms is expected to increase value for in-house legal professionals.
