KPMG Eyes Strategic Expansion into U.S. Legal Market, Targets Legal Managed Services Niche

KPMG International is exploring a strategic entry into the U.S. legal market, which Stuart Fuller, the recently retired global head of legal services, identifies as a crucial step for the firm. As noted in an interview with Law.com International, Fuller emphasized the significant portion of the global legal services market—estimated at a trillion dollars in revenue—that is based in the U.S., approximately 50%. Despite this major potential, KPMG does not plan to compete head-to-head with established U.S. law firms. Instead, they are looking to carve out a niche in legal managed services, potentially setting up operations in Arizona, pending a court decision. This diversification could differentiate KPMG’s legal services offerings from traditional law firms, aligning with broader trends of alternative business structures evolving in the U.S. legal landscape.
