In a notable decision, Sidney Powell, a lawyer closely associated with former President Donald Trump, has once again successfully navigated a Texas Bar Association disciplinary effort. The proceedings aimed at sanctioning her involvement in attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
The Texas Board of Disciplinary Appeals, chaired by Bud Kirkendall, concluded that none of the misdemeanors Powell pleaded guilty to in Georgia in 2023 were classified as serious crimes under Texas law. As a result, she is not liable for mandatory discipline in the state. This decision was confirmed at the conclusion of a morning hearing held in Austin last Friday.
