In a significant addition to its finance and restructuring practice, King & Spalding has welcomed Eric Wise and Matt Kelsey as partners to its New York office. Both attorneys bring substantial experience in restructuring and special situations finance.
Eric Wise has a well-established focus on restructuring and special situations finance. He has represented diverse stakeholders, including first lien credit groups, junior lien creditor groups, unsecured creditor groups, and official committees of unsecured creditors. His portfolio also includes work with equity holders, post-petition lenders, and debtors, illustrating his breadth of expertise in navigating complex financial restructurings.
Matt Kelsey specializes in both in-court and out-of-court Chapter 11 matters, offering his services to a variety of clients such as debtors, ad hoc creditor groups, financial institutions, and official committees. His practice is marked by his handling of intricate restructuring scenarios that require a nuanced understanding of financial and legal landscapes.
Prior to their move to King & Spalding, both Wise and Kelsey were with Alston & Bird, where they honed their specialization in the realms of restructuring, bankruptcy, and finance. Their addition is seen as a strategic expansion of King & Spalding’s capabilities in dealing with high-stakes financial restructurings on a national and international scale.
