Law Insider Launches OneSaaS: A New Era for Standardized Cloud Services Agreements

Law Insider has announced the launch of oneSaaS, a standardized cloud services agreement template, during the inaugural Future Contracts Miami conference. The oneSaaS initiative aims to streamline and standardize SaaS contracting amidst an industry processing over 30 million contracts annually. This new template is a free, open-source resource available to organizations of all sizes.

The launch of oneSaaS is a continuation of Law Insider’s previous success with oneNDA. In October, Law Insider acquired oneNDA, an open-source contract standard for non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), adopted by over 6,000 organizations and used in nearly 10 million agreements annually. The success of oneNDA has paved the way for the introduction of additional resources like oneNDA M&A, aimed at mergers and acquisitions, and oneDPA, a standard for data processing agreements.

  1. Developed through a community-driven process involving over 300 legal professionals and SaaS providers.
  2. Analyzed nearly 1,000 public SaaS agreements with AI to identify commonalities and create a practical template.
  3. Adhered to a methodology aimed at maintaining core standard principles while allowing the flexibility necessary for business-specific configurations.

“Our goal with oneSaaS is simple: to provide a universally recognized standard for cloud services agreements that fosters efficiency, collaboration, and innovation across the industry,” stated Electra Japonas, Chief Legal Officer at Law Insider. This effort included contributions from prominent organizations such as H&M, the United Nations, IATA, and OneTrust.

Law Insider President Preston Clark explained that launching oneSaaS is part of a broader strategy to develop a comprehensive set of standardized agreements. He plans to integrate these standards with contract automation technology through another company he owns, SimpleDocs. This integration could enhance the practical utility of these standards for legal and business teams, aiding in faster negotiations and reducing legal costs.

The oneSaaS template, along with supplementary materials such as adoption guides and tutorials, is freely accessible. Interested organizations can download it via lawinsider.com/standards/onesaas. Organizations adopting the standard are encouraged to register their endorsement on a directory of adopters, showcasing their commitment to a forward-thinking, efficient contracting process.
