In a strategic move to enhance its capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI) liability litigation, Akerman LLP has recently bolstered its ranks by acquiring a team of litigators from a boutique firm based in Fort Lauderdale. This acquisition underscores the growing importance of AI-related legal disputes and the increasing demand for specialized expertise in the legal sector.
Akerman has welcomed eight experienced lawyers from Keller Landsberg PA, including partners David Keller, Elizabeth Izquierdo, and Maria Priovolos-Gonzalez. The new additions will operate out of Akerman’s Fort Lauderdale and Miami offices. This expansion is expected to significantly enhance Akerman’s litigation services, particularly benefiting insurance clients such as Allstate and Zurich North America.
The new team will focus on advising other lawyers about the risks associated with artificial intelligence, a domain that is seeing a notable uptick in legal claims. David Keller anticipates a rise in disputes related to litigation, corporate work, trusts and estates, and cybersecurity this year. This trend reflects the broader dynamics within the legal industry, where AI is increasingly integral to various sectors.
