Nicole Argentieri, the former head of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, is set to join Cravath, Swaine & Moore as a partner in New York. Her recruitment marks a significant move for Cravath, a firm traditionally known for nurturing talent internally. Argentieri will be a part of Cravath’s litigation department, contributing to its investigations and regulatory enforcement practice.
During her tenure at the Department of Justice, Argentieri served as the acting assistant attorney general for the Criminal Division. Her public-facing roles in notable cases, such as the investigation into Binance and the prosecution of George Santos, underscored her expertise and prominence in legal circles.
This lateral hire follows Cravath’s recent strategic decision to expand its ranks with experienced practitioners from external avenues. Just last month, the firm welcomed Andrew Finch, an antitrust official during the Trump administration, from Paul Weiss. This expansion aims to bolster Cravath’s capabilities in handling complex investigations and regulations.
