LexisNexis CaseMap+ AI Update Streamlines Litigation with Generative AI Integration

LexisNexis Legal & Professional has announced a significant update to its case management platform, CaseMap+ AI, now incorporating generative artificial intelligence to facilitate a more efficient review and management of litigation matters. This innovation is intended to streamline processes such as deposition transcript reviews and document analyses, offering a more sophisticated approach to handling legal data.

The enhanced functionalities of CaseMap+ AI include the ability to generate summaries of deposition transcripts and create interactive topic lists. It also offers document summarization that automatically populates fields with concise synopses. Additionally, the introduction of third-party integrations, such as with iManage and RelativityOne, allows for seamless document transfer, retaining important metadata along the way.

One notable feature is the auto-creation of timelines using AI, aiding in the conversion of case chronologies into more digestible visual aids. This can be particularly beneficial for legal professionals needing quick and clear presentations of chronological data. Beyond that, the platform assists in issue management, helping legal teams develop hierarchies for claims, counterclaims, and other arguments. Transcript management is also enhanced, allowing users to search and locate key information rapidly with synchronized video support.

According to Sean Fitzpatrick, CEO of LexisNexis North America, UK, and Ireland, the integration of AI within CaseMap+ is anticipated to significantly change the litigation landscape by enhancing productivity and enabling better collaboration within legal teams. LexisNexis has plans to further develop the platform by integrating its personalized legal AI assistant, Protégé, to aid users in more efficient legal analysis and strategy development.

CaseMap itself has a storied history, having been initially released in 1998, later acquired by LexisNexis in 2006, and transitioned to a cloud-based model in 2022. This latest development is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to leverage cutting-edge technologies in legal practice, as detailed in a previous report.
