In his statement, Türk remarked on a series of coordinated attacks allegedly orchestrated by elements linked to the former government and local armed groups. The violence in Syria has intensified since the caretaker authorities’ security forces in the coastal region were targeted by fighters loyal to the ousted Assad regime. This resurgence of unrest marks the most serious violence since Bashar al-Assad was removed from power, with the death toll reaching 1,454 since the attacks erupted on March 6.
