As the potential for artificial intelligence to reshape the legal industry continues to be explored, recent findings offer a tempered perspective on its impact. A survey commissioned by British legal tech company Definely, which specializes in contract drafting and review, reveals that AI has yet to significantly alter the dynamics between in-house counsel and their clients in the U.S. and U.K.
The survey canvassed 200 attorneys, with a nearly even split between those in private practice and those working in-house. The participants, drawn from YouGov’s research panel and Definely’s client base, provide insight into ongoing uncertainty regarding AI’s eventual role in transforming legal relationships.
Despite widespread anticipation of AI-driven change within legal frameworks, the survey suggests that noticeable shifts in firm-client relationships remain elusive across both countries. Additionally, the study highlights pertinent differences between the U.K. and American legal tech markets.
