LexisNexis Unveils Protégé: Pioneering Voice AI Assistant for Legal Industry at Legalweek NYC

As Legalweek commences in New York City, LexisNexis Legal & Professional has spearheaded the series of announcements with the introduction of what it claims to be the legal industry’s first personalized voice AI assistant, aptly named Protégé. This innovation aims to streamline the way legal professionals interact with complex data, transitioning from traditional text-based prompts to the use of spoken language in the execution of various legal tasks.

Protégé, which first entered the market in January, integrates generative and agentic AI capabilities, providing substantial enhancements to traditional workflows. The voice-enabled AI functionality allows users to engage in tasks such as legal inquiries, drafting, and summarizing case law through simple voice commands. The added layer of speech integration stands to redefine productivity and efficiency within legal teams.

Enhanced with advanced reasoning features, Protégé delivers a nuanced collaboration between AI and legal professionals. It introduces several new agents designed to refine and aid legal processes, including a Planner Agent for detailed problem-solving, and a Self-Reflection Agent devoted to optimising document drafts. Additionally, context expert witness analytics feature enables pre-trial assessments by processing expert witness depositions to generate comprehensive summaries.

The latest iteration also emphasizes user-driven customization, with expanded legal prompt suggestions aiding users to derive insights without the necessity for extensive prompting expertise. Additionally, AI analysis for legal search results integrates AI functionalities within the Lexis+ interface, enhancing the legal research experience for practitioners.

Sean Fitzpatrick, CEO of LexisNexis North America, UK, and Ireland, stated, “We want to make it increasingly effortless for our customers to collaborate with LexisNexis AI solutions to generate outstanding legal work.” The introduction of Protégé’s voice capabilities exemplifies LexisNexis’ commitment to leveraging technology to make human-AI interactions more intuitive and productive.

For Legalweek attendees interested in a firsthand experience of Protégé’s capabilities, LexisNexis will be demonstrating the product at Booth 2101. Further details can be found directly in the announcement released at the event.
