Amazon Enlists Perkins Coie for Defense in Geolocation Privacy Lawsuits

Perkins Coie has been retained to defend Amazon.com Inc. and its subsidiary, Amazon Advertising LLC, in privacy class action lawsuits filed in Washington federal court. These lawsuits target Amazon’s use of software development kit technology, which allegedly collects users’ geolocation data without their consent. Further details reveal that Perkins Coie partners Erin Earl, Nicola Menaldo, and Ryan Spear, alongside associate Jordan Harris, are leading the defense efforts for Amazon. The cases, Albano v. Amazon.com and Maxwell v. Amazon.com, were filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington earlier this year.
