Over 360 Law Professors Unite to Challenge Trump’s Executive Order Targeting Legal Representation

More than 360 law professors from institutions such as Columbia Law School, Cornell Law School, Stanford Law School, and the University of Michigan Law School have united to sign an amicus brief in support of Perkins Coie as the firm challenges a controversial executive order issued by former President Donald Trump. This order targets Perkins Coie specifically and raises concerns among legal scholars about potential implications for attorneys representing politically sensitive clients. As stated in the professors’ brief, “If the executive order stands, it will be open season on lawyers who have dared to take on clients or causes the President or other officials don’t like.” This amicus brief joins others, including one from 11 legal advocacy organizations and another from former D.C.
