An amicus brief supporting Perkins Coie has been signed by more than 360 law professors from universities such as Columbia, Cornell, Stanford, and Michigan. The brief responds to an executive order by former President Donald Trump targeting the firm. It argues that allowing the order to stand would encourage retaliatory actions against lawyers based on the clients or causes they represent. This brief joins others submitted by legal advocacy organizations and past presidents of the D.C. Bar. However, a circulating brief by other law firms has yet to be filed.
