Johnson & Johnson Seeks to Revive 2023 Legal Action Against Expert in Baby Powder Mesothelioma Cases

Johnson & Johnson is making efforts to revive its 2023 lawsuit against Dr. Jacqueline Moline, a prominent plaintiffs’ expert in numerous cases alleging that its baby powder caused mesothelioma. This move follows a recent court order requiring Dr. Moline to disclose the identities of the 33 individuals involved in her 2020 study titled “Mesothelioma Associated with the Use of Cosmetic Talc.” In this study, plaintiffs’ attorneys have previously cited that these individuals had no exposure to asbestos besides using cosmetic talcum powder. However, it emerged that nearly half of these individuals might have been exposed to asbestos through smoking or environmental factors such as insulation at their homes, workplaces, and schools.
