UK Legal Regulator Ends Financial Penalties for Lawyers’ Drink-Driving Offences

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) will cease to impose financial penalties on lawyers for drink-driving offences. Between 2020 and 2024, the SRA investigated 134 individuals concerning such incidents, resulting in fines for 24 lawyers, with fewer than five being struck off. The decision to amend this rule comes following feedback, aiming to prevent the duplication of sanctions already imposed by the courts. For further details, the original article is available here.
