Exploring AI’s Role in Legal Aid: Insights from the Equal Justice Conference

The intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and legal services is an evolving topic of discussion, prominently featured at this year’s Equal Justice Conference in San Francisco. Legal professionals, particularly those involved with civil legal aid and nonprofits, are being invited to participate in a survey to share their insights on how AI could influence their work in critical areas such as housing, family law, and employment disputes.

The initiative is a collaboration between Everlaw for Good, the National Legal Aid & Defender Association (NLADA), and Paladin. The main aim of this endeavor is to assess both the potential benefits and the challenges that come with integrating AI into the legal aid sector. By obtaining input directly from those who are actively engaged in providing legal services, the survey hopes to illuminate pathways to enhance access to justice through technological innovation.

The survey, which consists of 10 concise questions, is designed to be completed in under five minutes. As an added incentive, Everlaw has committed to donating $10 to the NLADA for each completed survey response, up to the first 100 submissions. This presents a unique opportunity for legal practitioners to contribute their perspectives while aiding the funding of legal aid services.

For legal professionals committed to advancing access to justice, participation in this survey is a chance to voice the realities they face and the role AI might play in their work. Interested individuals can take the survey here.

Further information about this survey can be found on the LawNext website, where the announcement details the broader context of this initiative.
