Kirkland & Ellis Strengthens Litigation Team with Strategic Acquisition of King & Spalding Attorneys

Kirkland & Ellis has made a significant addition to its legal team by bringing in more than 20 litigators from King & Spalding. This move includes 13 partners and strategically enhances Kirkland’s capabilities in mass tort and product liability defense. Partners Kristen Fournier, Kim Bueno, Morty Durbin, and John Ewald are leading the group that has recently joined Kirkland. As reported by Bloomberg Law, a total of 23 lawyers have already committed to transitioning from King & Spalding to Kirkland & Ellis.

Insiders indicate that Kirkland’s leadership is not stopping here; discussions are ongoing to further expand the group to nearly 30 partners, associates, and counsel in the forthcoming weeks. This hiring spree emphasizes Kirkland & Ellis’s desire to deepen their bench in critical litigation areas and remaining competitive in the high-stakes mass tort landscape.
