LexCheck Unveils Version 3.0: Enhancing AI-Powered Contract Review with Custom Playbooks and Precedent Checking

LexCheck has announced the release of version 3.0 of its AI-powered contract review tool, taking another step toward redefining how legal practitioners approach complex agreements. This update introduces new functionalities that automate the generation of custom playbooks from clients’ historical redlines and conduct precedent checks against previous agreements.

Building on the January release of version 2.0, known as Insights, the latest iteration continues to leverage large language models atop the natural language processing techniques that have been integral to the platform since its launch. LexCheck 3.0 is designed to increase the accuracy of contract reviews and improve scalability for enterprise environments by deepening its analytical capabilities.

The new version incorporates a system that can produce review guidelines by parsing historical redline patterns, thus transforming a typically labor-intensive task into an efficient process. This capability allows LexCheck to create playbooks that reflect approximately 60-70% of client preferences from the outset, according to Daniel Moon, LexCheck’s head of product. By refining these drafts, LexCheck aims to shift the balance toward greater automation, eventually minimizing the need for human oversight to mere error checks.

LexCheck 3.0 also introduces a precedent checker function, giving legal teams the ability to validate contract provisions against previous agreements. This feature creates a conversational interface for users to further refine their searches based on document type, counterparty, and other parameters, thereby making historical precedent checks more intuitive.

In terms of workflow integration, the software continues to function within Microsoft Word, ensuring minimal disruption to existing review processes. The tool supports various configurations for different industries or transaction scenarios, thereby offering a customizable review process that aligns with distinct organizational needs.

CEO Gary Sangha describes this version as a “significant leap forward” in terms of accuracy, usability, and scalability, differentiating LexCheck from other AI tools by focusing on learning from past negotiations and empowering teams to handle both everyday agreements and complex contracts.

Initially known as LitIQ, LexCheck was founded in 2015 by Gary Sangha, who also founded Intelligize, a securities compliance platform. For more detailed insights about the release, see the full article on LawNext.
