Freshfields Leads Legal Challenge Against British Basketball Federation Over Licensing Dispute

Freshfields has secured another sports competition law case, representing the U.K.’s Super League Basketball in a legal battle against the British Basketball Federation and GBB League Limited (GBBL). This case, filed in London’s High Court, accuses the federation of breaching competition law and other misconducts concerning the professional basketball league licensing. The dispute emerged after the federation terminated the previous league’s license and awarded a new exclusive license to GBBL, which the Super League claims is anti-competitive and unlawful. The legal team from Freshfields is led by Rhodri Thomas, working with Paul Harris KC and Ciar McAndrew of Monckton Chambers. For further details, visit the full article on Law.com.
