Texas Lawyer Trades Courtroom Stress for Cutting Horse Success on the Ranch

Austin attorney Geoff Weisbart has discovered an effective outlet for stress relief outside the courtroom. Operating from his ranch in Manchaca, Texas, Weisbart breeds and rides cutting horses, a pursuit that has brought him substantial success in competitive arenas.

Weisbart’s initial foray into horse breeding dates back to the mid-1990s. He began at his ranch with a mare bred specifically for cutting competitions. The financial and personal rewards of selling a foal outweighed those of cattle farming, leading him to shift his focus to equestrian endeavors. His efforts have paid off, with his bred horses, such as Ms. Peppy Cat and Ms. Mimosa, earning titles as National Cutting Horse Association world champions. In addition, Weisbart recently placed in the money at the Houston Rodeo with his horse, Metallics Molly.

Beyond serving as a profitable venture, cutting horse breeding and competition offer Weisbart much-needed respite from his demanding litigation practice. He is active in both the National Cutting Horse Association and the American Cutting Horse Association. Eagerly anticipating competition, Weisbart looks forward to riding his three-year-old horse at the NCHA Futurity in Fort Worth this winter.

Complementing his equestrian interests, Weisbart is also an experienced aviator and offers flight training, reflecting another dimension of his diverse skill set. For more information on Geoff Weisbart’s unique blend of passions, visit Law.com.
