Cleary Gottlieb Strengthens London Practice with High-Profile Kirkland & Ellis Hire

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton has announced the addition of Rob Sharpe, a partner from Kirkland & Ellis, to bolster its London tax and private equity practice. Sharpe, who joined Kirkland in 2021, brings a wealth of experience in private equity, private funds, and mergers and acquisitions. His move is part of Cleary’s strategic efforts to enhance its capabilities, following other significant hires such as former Goldman Sachs managing director Humayun Khalid in the U.S.

This hiring continues the trend of departures from Kirkland, with longtime partner Elaine Nolan leaving earlier this year for Keystone Law. Cleary’s tax partner, Richard Sultman, expressed enthusiasm for working with Rob, citing his substantial experience as a beneficial addition to the firm.
