Akerman LLP has announced the addition of Vivien Krieger as a partner in its New York real estate practice, focusing on land use and zoning matters. Krieger brings extensive experience representing developers, lenders, owners, purchasers, and nonprofits in navigating New York City’s complex land use and zoning regulations.

Prior to joining Akerman, Krieger co-chaired the Zoning, Land Use & Development Practice at Cozen O’Connor. Her practice involved preparing applications and appearing before various city and state entities, including the NYC City Planning Commission, NYC Board of Standards and Appeals, and the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission. She also engaged with community boards and elected officials, collaborating closely with architects, engineers, and environmental experts.

In addition to her legal practice, Krieger has held leadership roles in the Urban Land Institute (ULI) New York. She served as chair of ULI New York’s Technical Assistance Panels Steering Committee and was a member of the Awards for Excellence in Development Committee. She also joined the board of directors of Plus Pool, an organization aiming to provide free and safe access to swimming in New York City’s East River.

Akerman’s real estate practice has been recognized for its depth of experience in land use and zoning. The firm earned Tier 1 status for Real Estate: Land Use/Zoning in the 2024 edition of The Legal 500 United States guide, highlighting its national land use and development practice across key markets, including New York.

Krieger’s addition is expected to further strengthen Akerman’s capabilities in navigating New York City’s intricate land use and zoning landscape, benefiting clients involved in complex real estate projects.
