Boston Law Firm Sues Over Alleged Unpaid Referral Fees in $33 Million Salmon Settlement

In a complex legal confrontation, Vita Law Offices has taken legal action against the law firm Lockridge Grindal Nauen and one of its partners. The lawsuit stems from allegations that Lockridge Grindal Nauen has failed to honor a referral fee agreement related to the recently settled salmon antitrust class action. The litigation concluded with a $33 million settlement addressing anticompetitive pricing in the North American salmon industry.

Vita Law Offices contends that they are entitled to 15% of the attorney fees from this settlement, claiming an agreement for a $660,000 payout. However, Lockridge Grindal Nauen disputes the existence of any such fee arrangement.

Adding further complexity to the dispute, a federal judge in Massachusetts has mandated Vita to clarify the presence of ‘multiple fabricated quotes’ within its recent submission by July 14. These findings may potentially result in sanctions, escalating the stakes for the Boston-based firm.
