Three States Join NextGen Bar Exam Movement, Total Adoption Reaches 39 States


Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and Alabama have recently announced their adoption of the NextGen Uniform Bar Exam, scheduled to be administered starting July 2028. These announcements follow previous decisions, raising the total number of states committed to the NextGen Bar Exam to 39, along with Washington, D.C. Scheduled for a broader launch next year, the NextGen UBE marks a significant progression in bar examination standards across the United States. Presently, six states are set to begin utilizing the NextGen UBE upon its launch, while most states plan to wait for the July 2028 administration. Notably, nine states have yet to disclose whether they intend to implement this new testing format.
