Global law firm Eversheds Sutherland has expanded its U.S. presence by opening a new office in San Francisco’s Financial District. The office, located at 101 California Street, serves as a hub for both local and international lawyers, reflecting the firm’s commitment to the Bay Area’s dynamic business and technology sectors.
Leading the San Francisco office is Baird D. Fogel, a transactional attorney who joined Eversheds Sutherland from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. Fogel brings extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiations, and compliance, particularly within the renewable energy industry. He expressed enthusiasm about the firm’s existing relationships in the region, noting that Eversheds Sutherland already works with major technology companies such as Zoom and Intel. Fogel emphasized the opportunity to better serve existing clients and attract new ones in the Bay Area.
Joining Fogel is Brandi A. Taylor, the firm’s West Coast Technology Lead, who relocated from San Diego. Taylor specializes in data privacy and product development, advising technology companies on complex compliance issues. Her move underscores the firm’s dedication to enhancing its technology practice in Northern California.
The San Francisco office is designed to foster collaboration among lawyers and clients. It also marks Eversheds Sutherland’s first foray into hoteling, allowing attorneys to reserve office space as needed. This flexible approach aims to accommodate the evolving needs of legal professionals and clients alike.
Since its launch in March 2022, the San Francisco office has grown steadily, serving a range of sectors including corporate and M&A, data privacy, product counseling, energy, insurance, technology, and sports. The firm now has nine offices in the U.S., with recent expansions in Chicago and San Diego since 2019.
Managing Partner Alan Connell highlighted the significance of this development, stating that the expansion enhances the firm’s worldwide footprint. He emphasized that with multidisciplinary expertise and diverse practices, Eversheds Sutherland is well-positioned to assist internationally-focused companies and financial institutions doing business in and from Ireland.
Co-CEO Mark Wasserman noted that the efficient space was designed to foster collaboration among lawyers and clients, situated in a vibrant location with spectacular views from the Golden Gate to Bay bridges.
Partner-in-Charge of the San Francisco office, Baird Fogel, added that the office is designed for the global team to get together, collaborate, socialize, and meet with clients.
With over 70 offices in more than 30 countries, Eversheds Sutherland’s expansion into San Francisco aligns with its strategic goal of strengthening its capabilities and worldwide footprint, particularly in key business and technology markets.
