In anticipation of the International Legal Technology Association’s annual conference (ILTACON) set to convene on August 10 in National Harbor, Global legal technology leader Litera is unveiling a series of product developments designed to enhance legal practice through advanced AI integration. This series, branded as “Road to ILTACON,” marks a strategic shift toward digitized workflows and intelligent data management in law firms.
A significant part of this initiative is the introduction of Lito, an AI legal agent integrated into the Litera One platform. This AI tool is engineered to operate as a virtual associate, amalgamating large language model technology with three decades of Litera’s rule-based engines. Lito is accessible through Microsoft Outlook and web interfaces, providing innovative features such as:
- Chat with Doc Viewer: Designed for document analysis and to trigger a library of AI workflow skills.
- Analyze in Grid: Allows users to run multiple prompts across documents simultaneously.
- Compare: Facilitates document comparison across various formats, supported by AI-powered change analysis.
- Search Experience: A natural language search function accessing client and legal data through the Foundation platform.
- Review Terms: Provides built-in definition lookups for contract review.
- Legal Skills: Automates tasks such as form checks and timeline generation.
Litera’s rollout doesn’t stop with Lito. They have also integrated generative AI capabilities into Kira, their contract review platform. This enhancement, part of the company’s Litera AI+ initiative, became available to all new and existing Kira subscriptions from July 31. Key upgrades to Kira include:
- GenAI-powered smart fields: Custom field creation using prompts rather than coding.
- xGrid-based Workflow: Displays document language for better analysis and smart field creation.
- Revamped Analysis Chart: Offers an intuitive layout for risk and trend visibility.
- Concept Search: AI-driven search that finds clauses with single examples.
- Project-level GenAI Governance: Allows control over AI features per project, ensuring compliance with external guidelines.
These developments are anticipated to streamline legal workflows, enhance compliance, and offer deeper insights into document review processes. Commenting on these advancements, Litera’s Chief Product Officer, Adam Ryan, emphasized how these tools redefine the possibilities within legal technology, aligning with compliance guidelines and optimizing resource allocation.
