Litera Enhances Legal Tech Platform with New Drafting and Knowledge Management Features Ahead of ILTACON 2023

Litera, a prominent name in legal technology, has announced enhancements to its Litera One platform, providing new drafting and knowledge management capabilities that integrate seamlessly into Microsoft Word and Outlook environments. This development is part of Litera’s ongoing “Road to ILTACON” series of product announcements, a strategy aimed at unveiling advanced features before the high-profile ILTACON conference.

The expanded platform, launched initially in April, now features significant improvements designed to streamline legal workflows. Key among these is the introduction of ‘Precedent’, a beta workflow enabling legal professionals to access and use precedent language from curated content libraries directly within Microsoft Word. This complements expanded integrations with Litera’s Foundation and Peppermint CRM systems, enhancing data accessibility within Outlook.

The updates to Litera One include a new combination of the cloud version of Litera Create-Content with Foundation Insights, enhancing the system’s capability to provide contextual access to valuable legal insights during document drafting. Furthermore, the platform now offers enhanced metadata cleaning for email attachments across different devices, including Macs, through its ‘Clean’ function, formerly known as Metadact.

Additional benefits for users include new Clean Up Formatting functionality within Word, multi-document analysis capabilities, and planned support for NetDocuments, scheduled for release on August 9. The platform also now offers support in French Canadian for the Create Desktop Application, expanding its usability in various linguistic contexts.

Adam Ryan, Chief Product Officer at Litera, highlighted the competitive advantage these tools offer, noting that rapid access to crucial client-related information can significantly impact a law firm’s ability to secure new business.

Since its initial rollout, over 2,500 law firms and in-house legal teams have adopted Litera One, according to the company. This adoption reflects the platform’s potential to save legal teams significant time—between 2-10 hours per week—by consolidating various workflows into a single, cohesive interface. Looking ahead, Litera One will integrate further with Lito, the company’s AI agent, and plans for additional functionalities are in the pipeline, set to be presented at the ILTACON conference. Legal professionals attending ILTACON from August 10 can expect detailed demonstrations of all recent updates, with presentations planned by Litera’s CEO Avaneesh Marwaha and Microsoft’s Gbenga Ige.
