Aderant Acquires HerculesAI’s Legal Tech Portfolio to Enhance AI-Driven Solutions for Law Firms

In a notable move within the legal technology sphere, Aderant has formalized an agreement to acquire the legal technology portfolio of HerculesAI. This acquisition underscores Aderant’s commitment to enhancing its business management software solutions for law firms through advanced AI capabilities.

HerculesAI, formerly known as ZERO, gained attention after rebranding and securing $26 million in Series B funding last year. It has developed several AI-driven platforms aimed at improving billing compliance, such as the Verify pre-bill review platform, which claims the potential to detect up to 50% of billing compliance issues before they affect client deductions. This included launching the Apollo product, which automatically captures billable time on desktop devices, and the Athena solution, which complements their existing technologies.

The acquisition sees Aderant integrating not just the technology, but also the talent pool behind HerculesAI’s legal solutions. Chris Cartrett, President and CEO of Aderant, emphasized that the integration of HerculesAI’s advanced machine learning and compliance tools would significantly enhance the work-to-cash processes within law firms, facilitating greater automation and insightful decision making. Cartrett highlighted that the deal strategically positions Aderant to deliver intelligent automation that directly enhances law firm profitability.

Alex Babin, CEO of HerculesAI, reiterated the synergistic fit of their legal products within Aderant’s portfolio, noting both product synergy and cultural alignment as key factors setting the stage for continued impact in the legal tech landscape.

HerculesAI, established in 2017, initially made its mark by offering AI-powered solutions that automated billable time capture through both mobile and desktop platforms. This move by Aderant is expected to elevate its operational capabilities and add significant value for its law firm clientele by transforming compliance into a more dynamic component of business operations.
