Law Business Research Ltd (LBR), a portfolio company of ICG, has announced the acquisition of Legal Geek, a prominent provider of legal technology-focused events and conferences. This acquisition, finalized on October 7, 2025, comes shortly before Legal Geek’s flagship conference in the United Kingdom.
Legal Geek, founded in 2015, has rapidly grown into a significant platform for innovation and change within the legal tech sector. Its event series is recognized for attracting a large number of delegates, world-class speakers, and numerous sponsors and vendors. The upcoming conference, scheduled for October 15-16, 2025, at London’s Old Truman Brewery, is expected to host approximately 4,500 attendees. The two-day event will feature keynotes, workshops, product pitches, and networking sessions focused on legal technology, with speakers including actor and presenter Stephen Fry, former Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Master of the Rolls Sir Geoffrey Vos, and courts and legal services minister Sarah Sackman KC MP.
Following the acquisition, Legal Geek’s founder, Jimmy Vestbirk, and director, Beth Fellner, will continue to lead the business. Vestbirk expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to become part of the Law Business Research / ALM family. We share a common vision, underpinned by core values of delivering success to our people, customers, and partners. This is the right time to unlock Legal Geek’s growth and expansion, and access to ALM and LBRs’ global resources will enable Legal Geek to scale our offering in existing and new markets.”
This acquisition follows the strategic merger between ALM and LBR earlier in 2025, which combined ALM’s deep U.S. market penetration with LBR’s strong UK and global presence. The addition of Legal Geek’s four events to the group’s existing portfolio, which includes Legal Week, Women, Influence & Power in Law, and the IPBC series, enhances the group’s focus on legal technology and expands its reach into Europe and the legal operations, technology, and service provider markets.
Nick Brailey, CEO of LBR, commented on the acquisition, stating, “We have long admired Legal Geek – the team have built a fantastic business that is unique in the industry. We are excited to support Jimmy and Beth in this next chapter of growth, and explore how we might leverage our multiple brands and existing events over time.”
Legal Geek’s integration into LBR’s portfolio is expected to strengthen the group’s position in the legal tech sector, providing enhanced resources and opportunities for innovation and growth within the industry.
