Lawmatics Introduces Qualify AI: Enhancing Lead Scoring with Generative AI for Law Firms

In a notable development within the legal technology space, the legal CRM and marketing platform Lawmatics has launched the beta version of Qualify AI. This product represents the company’s significant advancement into generative artificial intelligence, tailored to streamline one of the most time-intensive tasks faced by law firms: lead qualification.

Qualify AI is distinguished by its sophisticated approach to lead scoring, driven by a multi-layered system that merges each firm’s specific data with AI analysis and human inputs. According to Matt Spiegel, Lawmatics’ founder and CEO, this innovation does not merely rely on superficial AI features. Instead, the company has invested substantial effort into understanding the legal industry’s needs and concerns about AI, ensuring that the tool meets those needs effectively. Spiegel emphasized, “AI has layers, and the stuff that everyone has done is at layer one, which is superficial and is really just simply an integration into OpenAI.”

Qualify AI’s system incorporates an AI-powered chat interface to craft customized solutions for law firms, factoring in historical case data via proprietary algorithms. The product then identifies successful case patterns and allows users to set their unique criteria for evaluation. Importantly, this tool surpasses traditional scoring methods by offering qualitative, action-based recommendations. Categories such as “Chase Hard” and “Refer” are designed to align closely with a firm’s strategic priorities and capabilities.

The platform’s ability to autonomously fill gaps in information sets it apart. If required data is missing for confident decision-making, Qualify AI can generate follow-up forms and automatically send them via email or text, ensuring a comprehensive history of all interactions and scoring decisions.

Transparent AI functionality was a core focus for Spiegel, aiming to build trust within law firms. By avoiding a “black box” approach, Qualify AI provides detailed explanations of decisions, comparative views of score adjustments, and retains a full history of each lead’s scoring journey. “Lawyers don’t want some AI that’s just clicking a button and scoring leads,” remarked Spiegel. Access to transparency encourages lawyers to rely on the AI’s processing while understanding its basis.

While voice AI capabilities were considered during development, Lawmatics chose to exclude them at launch based on customer feedback, which expressed a strong preference for direct human interaction with leads. Spiegel indicated that while lawyers are currently uninterested in AI managing client communications, this capability might be incorporated in future iterations as comfort levels grow.

Currently available as an add-on to Lawmatics’ subscription service, Qualify AI is in its beta phase with an immediate call for sign-ups. Interested parties may anticipate broader access following successful beta testing. This announcement timely coincides with Cleo’s annual conference in Boston, providing an opportunity for interested professionals to explore its features in person.
