The XIV Lisbon Forum, scheduled for June 1–3, 2026, at the University of Lisbon’s School of Law (FDUL), is calling for original research submissions on the theme “New International Order, Technology, and Sovereignty.” This initiative is a collaboration between FGV Justiça (Getulio Vargas Foundation), FIBE (Forum for the Integration of Brazil and Europe), and IDP (Brazilian Institute of Education, Development, and Research).

The forum’s research panels will explore critical areas such as Digital Sovereignty, Fundamental Rights, and the Global Political Economy. The call is open to Master’s and Doctoral researchers in Law and Social Sciences, with papers and presentations accepted in both Portuguese and English. The deadline for submissions is April 21, 2026.

Selected participants will benefit from fee waivers, publication opportunities, and fully funded travel to present their work in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since its inception, the Lisbon Forum has served as a pivotal platform for discussing pressing global issues. The XIII edition in 2025, themed “The Changing World — Law, Democracy, and Sustainability in the Intelligent Era,” attracted over 3,000 registrants and featured numerous speakers from Portugal, Brazil, and other countries. The event underscored the importance of innovative and collaborative solutions for societies navigating the digital age. Similarly, the XII Forum in 2024 focused on “Advances and Setbacks of Globalization and New Frontiers: Legal, Political, Economic, Socio-Environmental, and Digital Transformations,” bringing together over 2,500 participants to discuss the multifaceted impacts of globalization. The upcoming XIV Lisbon Forum continues this tradition, aiming to foster in-depth discussions on the evolving international order and the interplay between technology and sovereignty. Researchers are encouraged to contribute to this ongoing dialogue by submitting their work by the April 21 deadline.
