Centerbase Unveils AI-Powered Tool Transforming Law Firm Business Intelligence and Decision-Making

As artificial intelligence continues to permeate the legal industry, Centerbase, a practice management platform for midsized law firms, has launched an AI-based tool focused not on legal practice but on the business dynamics of law firms. Centerbase IQ integrates an AI-powered natural language chat tool into the Centerbase platform, enabling managing partners and firm administrators to query firm performance data directly without waiting for traditional reports.

Announced during the 2026 Association of Legal Administrators Annual Conference & Expo, Centerbase IQ promises citation-backed, quick, and visual responses to queries related to billing, financial, matter, and productivity data. This development aims to disrupt the conventional time-consuming cycles of report requests and static data reviews.

Michael Dunn, CEO of Centerbase, emphasizes that firm leaders should be freed from the necessity of help tickets to access performance data. The ambition is to equip firms with an intuitive tool that transforms the stored data into actionable insights. This information is designed to be accessed with ease through natural conversation rather than traditional static reports, thus enhancing decision-making efficiency.

During a demonstration, Scott Cormier, Centerbase’s chief product officer, demonstrated the tool’s capability to handle queries ranging from financial overviews to operational specifics. The tool showed a seamless ability to generate proactive insights alongside raw data, leveraging data from over 20 entities within Centerbase, such as clients, billing entries, invoices, and calendar events.

A noteworthy feature of Centerbase IQ is the citation capability, which allows managing partners to verify the source of data figures, thereby fostering trust. Firms can also develop an internal knowledge base within the tool to incorporate their own performance benchmarks, further customizing how the platform interprets data according to the firm’s operating standards.

Currently in a pilot phase with a select group from its customer advisory board, Centerbase plans to extend availability to more firms through a waiting list and inclusion in new customer agreements. The tool uses Anthropic’s Claude as its default AI model but allows for model selection flexibility, anticipating expanded options in the future.

Rob Joyner, Senior Vice President of Business Development, projects a “fourth act” for the platform, which will enable Centerbase IQ to autonomously surface insights and stories before they are queried, integrating agentic AI with human-in-the-loop workflows for enhanced operational efficiency.

With Centerbase IQ, firms can expect a transformation in how performance data is accessed, visualized, and utilized in strategic decision-making within the legal industry.
