Leadership Transition at 8am: Jeff Hughes Appointed CEO, Succeeding Dru Armstrong

8am, the company behind legal technology products such as LawPay, MyCase, and CasePeer, has announced a leadership change with Jeff Hughes assuming the role of CEO. Hughes, who has been serving on 8am’s board since 2024 and was recently its executive chairman, takes over from Dru Armstrong. The transition was officially revealed on May 19.

Armstrong’s tenure, beginning in 2021 with the organization formerly known as AffiniPay, saw significant advancements. Under her leadership, the company successfully acquired MyCase and underwent a rebranding to 8am. She also oversaw the introduction of innovative financial products and the development of AI tools.

Despite her diagnosis with breast cancer, Armstrong remained actively engaged in her role. She has shared her experience in an article for Forbes, highlighting how generative AI empowered her during her treatment. Armstrong recently announced on LinkedIn that she is now fully recovered.

Hughes comes to the role with three decades of executive experience across various sectors. He was previously CEO of Enverus, where he led significant advancements, including growing the company’s revenue sixfold under Genstar Capital’s ownership. Expressing his enthusiasm, Hughes stated, “The opportunity in front of us is significant, and 8am is built to capture it.” He looks forward to continuing the company’s efforts in innovation and expanding the 8am platform.

Armstrong reflected on the transition, stating that it was a mutual decision between her and the board that now was an opportune time for change. She expressed eagerness to explore new opportunities in the vibrant Austin tech community. For more insights from Armstrong, you may visit the full article.
