In a strategic move, Steno, a tech-enabled provider of legal support and court reporting services, has promoted its Chief Operating Officer, Prabhdeep Singh, to the role of Chief Executive Officer. This transition marks the next phase of Steno’s growth trajectory as Singh takes over from cofounder Greg Hong. Hong will remain involved with the company as a member of its board of directors, underscoring his continued commitment to the firm’s success.
Singh’s promotion comes on the heels of his impactful tenure as COO, to which he was appointed two years ago. A seasoned executive, Singh has previously held prominent roles including global head of marketplace at WeWork, head of enterprise at Uber Eats, and chief growth officer at Clover Health. Prior to joining Steno, he was an operating partner at Armory Square Ventures.
The timing of this leadership change aligns with Steno’s recent Series C funding round, which brought in $49 million to accelerate the company’s expansion and technology development. The funding is earmarked for geographic growth and enhancing Steno’s litigation technology suite, including products such as Transcript Genius, Steno Connect, and DelayPay.
Greg Hong expressed his confidence in Singh’s capabilities, highlighting his vision for leveraging Steno’s hybrid model of combining tech and service to distinguish the company in the legal tech space. Singh himself articulated a commitment to scaling Steno into one of the largest legal tech platforms in the United States.
The promotion is viewed positively by industry stakeholders, including Gordon Crenshaw from The LegalTech Fund, who praised Singh’s ability to form a “world-class leadership team.” Crenshaw emphasized the role of innovative solutions in setting industry standards and expressed enthusiasm for supporting Steno’s continued expansion.
Under Singh’s leadership, Steno aims to enhance its presence in the Am Law 200 and enter new markets, asserting itself as a leader in legal technology services. As Steno embarks on this new chapter, the legal industry will undoubtedly watch closely to see how the company’s innovations and expanded reach will impact legal workflows and support services.
