Relativity Unveils claiR: A Breakthrough Conversational AI for Legal Professionals

Relativity’s claiR: A New Conversational AI Tool

Relativity has recently unveiled Relativity claiR, a conversational AI tool tailored for legal professionals seeking to navigate their RelativityOne environment with ease. The platform is engineered to provide answers to plain-language inquiries, complete with citations drawn directly from the legal dataset at hand.

According to Phil Saunders, CEO of Relativity, claiR offers a novel approach by granting lawyers immediate access to vital legal data, circumventing the layers of technical legal data teams that traditionally mediate this process. This advancement places the full scope of a legal matter’s data directly into the hands of lawyers.

However, potential users will have to be patient, as claiR is not slated for general release until early next year. In the interim, it will be rolled out through Relativity’s Advanced Access program, which allows select firms such as A&O Shearman, Foley & Lardner, and K&L Gates to test the system and provide feedback.

The design of claiR diverges from previous tools in the “aiR” suite, like aiR Assist, by extending its functionality from indexed document sets to the comprehensive matter record, inclusive of metadata. This ensures that lawyers are getting information directly from the complete data source without exporting sensitive materials to external environments, as noted by Chris Brown following his recent leadership advancement within Relativity.

While Relativity integrates claiR into the RelativityOne platform at no additional cost, it maintains that aiR for Case Strategy would remain a separately priced add-on. Feedback from the initial users, highlighted in a recent press release, indicates optimism about the tool’s capabilities in streamlining complex legal research and analysis tasks.

This development is part of Relativity’s broader strategic shift beyond e-discovery, with a series of initiatives in 2026 that include launching aiR for Case Strategy and acquiring Gavel, a document automation company. Such efforts underscore the company’s ambition to capture more phases of the litigation lifecycle and expand its offerings to engage practicing lawyers more directly.

More detailed insights and developments are expected to be showcased at the upcoming RelFest Chicago event, from September 29 to October 1.
