Jennie Morawetz Leads SCOREalytics in Reinventing Regulatory Intelligence for Legal Professionals

Jennie Morawetz, the newly appointed CEO of SCOREalytics, has articulated a vision for the regulatory intelligence company to become a crucial part of lawyers’ due diligence processes. Morawetz aims to position SCOREalytics as the go-to tool for general counsels and law firms to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of regulatory changes.

Transitioning into the CEO role from her previous position as the company’s Chief Strategy Officer and General Counsel, Morawetz brings a wealth of experience from her decade-long tenure at Kirkland & Ellis. At Kirkland, she was instrumental in building the firm’s Sustainability Practice Group, which prepared her for addressing regulatory challenges in dynamic legal contexts.

The vision for SCOREalytics involves a comprehensive approach to tracking regulations. The company currently oversees regulatory changes across 30 countries, focusing on key areas such as energy, labor, and data privacy. Morawetz outlined the company’s distinctive methodology, which includes direct monitoring of regulators rather than relying solely on internet searches and law firm alerts.

Central to SCOREalytics’ offering are its ‘applicability’ and ‘priority’ scores. These tools help legal teams assess the relevance of regulations, and their potential impact, by considering factors such as enforcement trends, compliance burdens, and penalties.

Morawetz emphasized the dual role of AI and human oversight in their processes. Despite AI’s capabilities, she noted its limitations and the necessity of manual intervention to ensure data accuracy. SCOREalytics uses a multi-LLM system, where complex issues are escalated to human review to mitigate the risks of AI inaccuracies.

Looking ahead, SCOREalytics plans to enhance its product features and expand its regulatory data set, aiming to integrate seamlessly with existing tools legal teams use. Although she is clear that the platform is not intended to supplant existing legal systems, Morawetz is keen to ensure it becomes an essential data resource for legal professionals.
