Everlaw’s Omni Unveiled: A Leap Towards Integrated AI in Legal Investigations and Open Platform Strategy

At the recent Everlaw Summit in San Francisco, Everlaw introduced Omni, a new agentic AI suite designed to enhance the investigation process by orchestrating the full range of its e-discovery tools. Omni marks a significant evolution from the previous Deep Dive tool, offering an integrated approach to AI-assisted legal investigations.

The unveiling of Omni, however, was not the only announcement catching attention at the summit. AJ Shankar, Everlaw’s founder and CEO, emphasized that the most exciting development, from the perspective of Everlaw’s customers, is the company’s strategic shift to open its platform to a variety of AI tools through Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectors. According to Shankar, this approach, branded as “Everlaw Everywhere,” holds greater significance for the company’s clientele than the technological advancements of Omni itself. This openness allows integration with popular tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and others, providing a flexible and expansive AI ecosystem.

Omni itself comprises several components: the newly consolidated Omni Agent, Case Memory, and automated actions that will soon be possible within Everlaw. The Omni Agent goes beyond document retrieval, enabling sophisticated data manipulation akin to the workflows executed by seasoned legal professionals. Case Memory aims to capture and utilize experiential knowledge, preventing the loss of insights when team members transition out of projects.

In line with the theme of integration, Everlaw’s strategic rollout at the summit included the launch of Workflows, a tool to automate the document review process through a drag-and-drop canvas, and Everlaw for Word, which connects word processing with the source documents housed within Everlaw’s platform.

The excitement surrounding Everlaw’s open platform strategy is evident in the rapid growth of MCP usage, which Shankar notes is doubling every month. Additionally, despite the expanded capabilities and integration benefits, Everlaw does not charge for the MCP connectors, reflecting a strategic choice to broaden access to AI tools without financial barriers.

The summit concluded with a strategic shift in event location, moving next year’s event to Washington, D.C. to accommodate the growing interest from East Coast clients, further underscoring Everlaw’s commitment to aligning with its user base’s needs and preferences.
