BCLP Faces New Lawsuit Despite Withdrawal from Mondelez Data Breach Case

Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP), a prominent international law firm, has been withdrawn from a U.S. class action lawsuit concerning a data breach involving Mondelez’s employee records. However, the firm has become the target of another suit connected to the same incident.

The former lawsuit was brought forward by Augustyn Wiacek, a past employee of snack-food heavyweight Mondelez. Wiacek, representing himself and his fellow employees, initiated legal action after the breach. Lawyers for Wiacek deposited a notice on June 29, stating BCLP’s removal from the legal proceedings, a step termed as ‘voluntary dismissal’ and implemented ‘without prejudice’.

Despite being removed from the initial case, BCLP now faces a second class action tied to the same data breach. This alleged breach may have impacted as many as 51,000 Mondelez associates. Presently, the specifics of this new claim aren’t fully clear due to a paywall limitation on the original piece.
