Good news for corporate legal departments across the United States: the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO-1) report deadline for 2022 has officially been announced. Data collection will begin on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, and employers will have until Tuesday, December 5, 2023, to file their reports, according to a recent announcement by Jackson Lewis P.C.
Many employers have been waiting with bated breath for this specific announcement, as the deadline for EEO-1 report submission has been delayed twice already. This delay has added to the growing list of regulatory compliance challenges faced by businesses, particularly amidst the rapidly changing labor and employment landscape.
The EEO-1 report remains a robust tool for the federal government in assessing statistical trends about the workforce, and it aids in enforcing anti-discrimination laws. All private employers with 100 or more employees, as well as federal contractors and first-tier subcontractors with 50 or more employees or government contracts of $50,000 or more, are required to file this report.
With the start and due dates now set, employers have ample time to prepare and file both their EEO-1 reports and their Veteran’s Employment and Training Service (VETS-4212) reports. Federal contractors have until September 30, 2023, to submit their annual VETS-4212 reports, providing data on their affirmative action plans for veterans.
The announcement not only sets a clear timeline for businesses, but it also re-emphasizes the essential role of corporate legal departments in ensuring regulatory compliance. As such, it is paramount for legal departments to stay up-to-date with such announcements and to proactively engage in the necessary preparations for timely filing.
